Services

At The Skin Hub, we use digital dermoscopy, a non-invasive imaging system that makes early diagnosis of skin cancer possible.

This allows increased diagnostic accuracy using polarised and non-polarised light to see below the skin surface. This enables the identification of the internal features of the mole that wouldn’t otherwise be seen with the naked eye.

If a lesion of concern has been identified, our doctor will discuss your treatment options with you and may recommend one of the following specialised services:

  • Full skin checks

  • Single lesions checks

  • Melanoma screening

  • Liquid nitrogen - Cryotherapy

  • Skin biopsy and surgery

  • Topical skin cancer treatment

  • Corporate skin checks

  • Sebaceous cysts, lipomas, skin barnacles, skin tags and wart removal

  • Treatment of inflammatory and itchy conditions including rashes, rosacea, acne, psoriasis, eczema and skin infections

If further treatment is required, referrals to aesthetic practitioners, general surgeons, ear nose and throat outpatients, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, dermatologist and other private referrals can be organised.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book an appointment?

Bookings can easily be made online here or over the phone. We offer urgent appointments, usually within in a day or two for spot checks.

What does a full skin check involve?

When you arrive you will be asked to change into a gown. The doctor or medical photographer will then check your skin, excluding the skin under your underwear (unless you have a lesion of concern there).

We usually check one body area at a time, moving the gown as needed so you are mostly covered. Photographs will be taken and uploaded to your personal file to be used as a reference to track future changes. Any lesions of concern will be examined and photographed with a dermascope and if treatment is required, this will be discussed with you at the time of your consultation.

What do I do if I have previously had skin checks / consultations at another clinic?

Clinics are able to give you a copy of your images and notes on request. These can usually be requested over the phone, by email or via a website query. These usually need to be requested by the patient themselves, or with written permission from the patient.

We are happy to email you an electronic form to request your notes prior to your appointment.

What are the payment options?

We really appreciate payment on the day of your consultation. We offer eftpos, credit card (visa and master card) and cash payment options.

If you are unable to pay on the day, we offer the option of payment by automatic payment.

Do you offer products?

We offer a range of products to aid scar treatment, minor sun damage, sunscreens, self tan and skin care for various skin conditions. These can be purchased over the counter without a consultations, either in the clinic or online.

Is there parking available?

We have patient parking available on Fourth Lane, as well as free roadside parking on Maxwell Road and Seymour Street sides of the building for up to one hour.

What can I do after surgery?

In most cases you are able to drive after surgery. The practitioner will advise you if you are unable to do so and need to make travel arrangements after surgery.

We advise resting and elevating your wound on the day of surgery. It is also helpful to take zinc, vitamin C and eat a healthy, balanced diet.

Gentle exercise is usually fine for small minor surgeries (where the wound is smaller than 1cm wide) for the first week. This includes walking, swimming or cycling. This does not include playing golf, yoga or sports. These activities can be resumed after one week.

Our nurse is happy to discuss this with you at the time of your surgery or follow up appointment.

What can I do to help reduce scarring?

Treatment will depend on the type of surgery and positioning of the scar on the body. Treatment options can be discussed before or after surgery.

How do I receive my histology results after surgery?

Your results will be available on our patient portal as soon as we receive them and they are viewed by the doctor. You will then receive further information by email if you need any follow up care or further consultations.

Results usually take around 2 weeks but in some cases may take up to 5 weeks if the specimen needs further testing.

We specialise in detecting and treating skin cancer and sun damage.
